This is Derek Burgess
And this is Derek's daughter, Angela, who's voice you will be hearing here, as well as Derek's wife's.
Derek was born 5th October 1940 on Mill Road in Liverpool city centre.
Derek mainly worked in factories, such as Dunlops.
He was the life of the party and enjoyed a drink or two with his friends. Holidays and family time were also a favourite way for him to spend his spare time with his wife Margaret, daughter Angela and son Peter.

Derek and Maragret's Love Story
The audio clip in this chapter has Margaret reveal how her and her late partner, Derek, met, fell in love, parted ways and then rekindled their relationship.
Some explain it to be fate, the way these two humans were brought back together after going their separate ways.
Margaret and Derek were married to each other from March 1962 until June 2003, when sadly, Derek lost his life to a malignant brain tumour at the age of 62
Derek and Margaret met in the Paddington area of Liverpool, more commonly known for being the site of the old Archbishop Blanch school building.
This song reminds Margaret of Derek, even when he was alive. Quite often now, you will hear this song playing with her voice alongside it, coming from the kitchen as she goes about her business.
These two children are Angela and Peter, who were Derek and Margaret's only two children. With only 4 years between them, the family were able to experience all of their fond and fun memories together.

Move these around!
Derek and Margaret had 3 grandchildren, all the daughters of Angela. Rebecca, Abbie and Kelsie. Since the couple made brilliant parents, Angela was excited for her parents to become the grandparents of these three little girls.
These two pictures were taken on the same holiday - Caravan'ing in Wales. It could be said that Derek was happiest with a drink in his hand.
Derek sadly lost his life on 14th June 2003 at the age of 62 to a malignant brain tumour. Derek fought hard right until the end of his life.

Passing away peacefully at home, the last words he managed to say to his wife, Margaret were, "you know I love you don't you?" to which Margaret replied, "of course I do."
Hi Grandad, it’s Kelsie.
I was only 2, nearly 3, when you passed away, so I don’t remember
you personally. My nan has constantly allowed me to imagine
you with her stories and tales about what you two would
get up to, and how you were all throughout her life. As well as my mum and dad allowing for this too. My dad really respected you, and I can tell that through the way he talks about you and my mum loved you as a dad. I know she couldn’t have gotten any luckier. They really boost you up.
Becca is a teacher and Abbie is a manager in a supermarket. I’m still in university studying media production, which is basically just film making, however I also want to go into primary teaching.
The world is so much more different now. Technology has advanced like crazy. We have self-driving cars, virtual reality which allows you to feel like you’re in a game, touch screen phones and laptops, 3D TVs, printers that can print 3D objects, wireless internet which isn’t even worth explaining how it works! The list is endless and would blow your mind.
We are currently in a worldwide pandemic also, due to a flu-like virus called COVID-19. It is deadly more so to older people and the vulnerable, but not so much to us younger folk. My nan has had to remain inside for near enough the whole year but luckily because she lives with us, she hasn’t been too lonely. The UK, as well as many other countries across the world have been in a lockdown, on and off, for over a year now. There is no normality to life just yet, but a vaccine has been found that will hopefully allow for life to creep back to normal. Fingers crossed.
I’ve got a boyfriend of 5 years. My nan loves him, so I know you would too. He is always amazed at how big you were when he sees pictures of you!
I like to think you’re okay, wherever you are. I know its morbid, but my nan can’t wait to see you again, I’m sure you have had a long enough break by now haha.
Thank you for loving my family way before I was here and until the end.
All my love
Kelsie, the baby who always cried.
